Did you know that Pavlov’s original inspiration was birthed in the euthanasia room of the late Colorado Humane Society? It was there a clear pattern emerged. Dogs with behavior issues were the first to be relinquished and the last to be adopted. And what was the #1 recorded reason for euthanasia in Denver shelters? Untreated behavior issues...mostly high-liability threatening behaviors.
In a utopian world, dog owners have the resources for elaborate lengthy training - months, years. But in the real world, many dog owners lack the time to stop such behaviors. Either someone gets hurt, a roommate gives an ultimatum, animal control gets involved, a spousal relationship is strained, or the quality of life is diminished. Consequently, TIME IS GOLD.
In three training sessions, we watched a fourteen-pound, human-biting, non-sporting breed, non-handler attentive breed (all the same dog, mind you) demonstrate the following off-leash behaviors.
Follow me, heel, sit, down, and come. The impulsive drive to bite humans was lessened. All this in three 60-90 minute sessions.
When it comes to high-liability aggressive behaviors TIME IS CRITICAL.
Thank you for blessing us with your dog training recipe, Sean O’Shea of The Good Dog!
Next, we run a pilot program to try out some new stuff.
